Mike Vaughn

Michael has served in a law enforcement setting since 2008. He began his law enforcement career in a civilian setting, before becoming a sworn police officer in 2012. He is currently assigned to the Administrative Services Bureau of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department as a Captain where he oversees the Background & Recruitment Division. In this role he oversees and manages the hiring process which encompasses Recruitment and Background Investigations for all sworn police officers, the Pre – Academy Program and the departments Internship Program. He is also in charge of the departments Safety Section.

Throughout his career, he has served in a wide array of assignments ranging from Patrol, FLEX, Precinct Investigations, Gangs, Crime Suppression, Community Field Intelligence, Drug Interdiction, Background Investigations, Recruitment, Safety and Crisis Negotiations. He has also served as a mentor for new police officers and is currently a Peer Supporter. In addition to these, he is still a current board member for the TN Gang Investigators Association.

Michael earned his Associate of Applied Science Degree from Nashville State Community College (TN) in Police Science / Police Administration, his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from Central State University (OH) and his Master’s in Public Service Administration from Cumberland University (TN).
